Descriptive Video Works is the industry leader with advanced technology and seamless delivery of high quality described video (DV) or audio vision (AV) for the vision impaired and blind. It is this commitment that sets us apart from others.
The State of the Industry:
"“I am proud and pleased to enact a declaration of freedom for all people with disabilities - to advance the blind and visually disabled toward a promise of a better way of life by ending the information deprivation that keeps the 300 plus million visually impaired in the dark. Help god’s light shine on the people who live in the dark.”
Stevie Wonder calls on the international community to take action to enhance information and technology accessibility at WIPO Assemblies (Sept2010)
Over 30 million Americans and 1.5 million Canadians experience blindness or significant vision impairment. Research indicates this number will dramatically increase as our population ages. In the past ten years we’ve watched how the demand for Described Video has grown. Today, networks routinely include DV in many of their broadcasts.
In the United States, in October of 2010 President Obama signed the 21st Century Communications and Accessibility Act in which the FCC mandated that television, feature films and other forms of media become accessible to all. To learn more about this mandate, click here: [watch video].
This year in Canada, the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has mandated that an increased percentage of television programming must feature DV.
For nearly a decade Descriptive Video Works has set the standard for excellence in described video, and has expanded this potential viewing audience.
