DIANE JOHNSON, President
Diane Johnson has been an active member of the broadcast industry for more than 20 years. Diane also worked as the Marketing Manager for the Walt Disney Company and is an active member of the Canadian Described Video Broadcast Committee. Her participation in television and production events such as Canpro and Promax, and her years of experience in radio and television has led her to Descriptive Video Works, Canada’s leading described video provider. As a founding member and former chair of the BC Chapter of Canadian Women in Communications (CWC) in 2006 Diane was awarded the "Chapter Leader of the Year" Award by CWC. The same year she received a distinguished scholarship to attend the Banff World Television Festival where she was one of the speakers. Diane truly is a leader in the emerging field of described video, and it is her commitment to exceeding expectations with outstanding teamwork, attention to detail and integrity, that set her and Descriptive Video Works apart knowing that there’s more to television that meets the eye.

BRENT CRAVEN, Technical Operations Manager
Technical Operations Manager Brent Craven has been with Descriptive Video Works since it began, bringing his exceptional knowledge to this unique process. Brent graduated from the Broadcast Communications Television program at BCIT. He has worked as Senior Editor, Post Supervisor at Starpost Digital and worked at Video Publishing Group where he gained experience working with various formats of tape machines and editing systems. He has won awards for his work with television series, documentaries and corporate and music videos. Brent has worked in Television producing, editing and as a Director. He takes great pride to ensure that each and every show that leaves Descriptive Video Works’ studio is returned to the producer or broadcaster meets the highest of standards set by Descriptive Video Works. Brent is our technical solution finder. To date whatever technical challenge we are presented with Brent has found the best solution.

ELLEN BAINE, Business Development
Passionately committed to advancing TV experiences for the blind and vision impaired, Ellen brings more than 30 years of broadcast industry experience to Descriptive Video Works. She joined the company in November 2008 and runs its sales office in Toronto. Ellen had the privilege of overseeing Canada’s first instance of open video description during Captioning Awareness Week.
Ellen’s involvement in Canada’s production community is extensive. In her previous role as Vice President of Programming for the former CHUM Television, Ellen supported individual channel programmers on specific programming tactics and planning. At the Toronto International Film Festival she sat on an international jury.
Her career trajectory includes a variety of incremental positions at Citytv along with experience programming movies for Superchannel and First Choice.
